Neatline Introduction

Hey guys! After working with Neatline, I think it is a really cool tool to show different regions of the world and how they connect to a concept. I do have some concerns in creating projects on there, as the user interface isn't something that is super intuitive to me. I don't have much experience with websites that go an in-depth as Neatline can, and having so many options to turn on/off to make things work correctly is a bit overwhelming when I am thinking about creating a project.

On the other side of this though, I am excited to work through these initial confusions and get to a place where I feel like I can use Neatline effectively. I think it is a tool that can be very beneficial, as there is a large range of things you can do on it! I really like how the timeline can interact with the real-world map, and as someone who often struggles with contextualizing texts, I think this is something that could really help.

  1. Hey Cassi! I agree that Neatline was not very intuitive. I had trouble with the many options and how to enable a feature. It was difficult for me to accomplish the most simple tasks on Neatline. However, I also agree that Neatline could be an effective tool if I learned how to use it.

  2. I also had a few issues with the interface of Neatline. It was difficult to navigate to specific areas, and when I would try to scroll in or out it would often zoom very close or very far. I was working on a Mac, it is possible a device with a mouse would solve some of these problems. I just hope with more practice the interface becomes more accessible.

  3. Hey Cassi! I similarly faced many issues while working with Neatline. I found it very tedious to use and am not sure if/how I would apply it in the future. I can appreciate the concept of Neatline, however, and I think it has the potential to be a very useful tool.
